Case History - Legacy

Gill had asked me to treat Legacy after she had seen me treat another horse at her yard. She was bringing Legacy back into work and wanted to start off knowing that all his muscles were ok.

Legacy responded very well to the EMRT, he needed only 2 treatments 7 days apart.   His behaviour changed almost immediately after the first treatment, he was happier in him self, less dominant in the field and he was not as grumpy or bargy as he had been before the treatment.

A month and half after Legacy's initial treatments Gill asked me to treat him again as he had sustained a hair line fracture to his near side radius (forearm).

The accident happened on the 24/09/2003, the hairline fracture was confirmed on the 26/09 and I went in to treat him on the 27/09. When I arrived he was in his box and was not weight bearing on his injured leg, the whole forearm was swollen, hot and hard and his back legs had filled from the 3 days box rest. He was on a course of strong antibiotics and anti inflammatories.   His demeanour was frustrated and agitated.

He settled and became more relaxed 10 minutes into the treatment. Because Legacy was familiar with EMRT I included moves specific to the forearm muscles in my treatment. Legacy was heavy eyed and sleepy at the end of the treatment.

I went back the following day to perform a series of moves (when repeated daily after the initial treatment the series of moves is known as a band-aid) over Legacy's forequarters.   His forearm was softer and warm to touch, the swelling had gone down and he was weight bearing a little more on the injured leg.   Legacy looked happier in himself.

The band-aids were performed for three consecutive days after the first treatment. On the 3 rd day the injury site was a little puffy, he was weight bearing on the injured leg, his hind legs were no longer swollen and warm, his demeanour was relaxed and calm. The staff at the yard mentioned that they had noticed a good change in Legacy's behaviour and thought that the swelling had decreased quicker than normal.

I returned a week later to give Legacy a full EMRT treatment. He was now being walked out in hand and was behaving very well, which was unusual for him after 2 weeks of box rest.   His demeanour was relaxed and calm and he was weight bearing fully on the injured leg.   Although he had lost a little muscle tone during the box rest, the whole of his body felt loose and supple and his hind legs had not come up again.   Legacy was almost asleep when I finished the treatment.

I was very pleased with his progress and asked Gill to call me when she thought he was in need of another EMRT treatment.

Testimonial

"The results achieved with my horse were amazing. Although not instant, I could see an overall change in his attitude and physical appearance. The greatest results were obtained when my horse sustained a hair line fracture to his front leg.   Whenever Legacy has been on box rest in the past, one of my mane problems was his legs filling. This time I called Nicola in after one treatment his legs did not fill and remained fine for the rest of his box rest period."
