Testimonials
In August 2004 Nicola was
asked to treat a Welsh Section D called Max. His owner, Fiona, had laid him off for the winter after a
competitive 2003 season. She
brought him back into work in mid January; by June Fiona was becoming increasingly
worried about Max¹s performance.
He felt stiff especially at the start of a lesson; he would disunite
intermittently whilst schooling and hacking and found lateral work difficult. Fiona said ³His nature is such that he will try and do what¹s asked of him even in
spite of him potentially being uncomfortable. And I guess that¹s what worried
me if there was something not quite right with him it would have to get to
quite an advanced stage before something was really obviously wrong. I did the
usual checks, saddle, teeth etc and felt reassured that there was nothing wrong
there². Fiona then read an article
on EMRT in the BHS summer magazine and was given Nicola¹s contact details.
During Nicola¹s first
assessment of Max she noticed that his forequarters looked stiff and he walked
and trotted as though he was wearing a very full nappy behind. Max had developed hard fat pads over
both sides of his rib cage, his jaw was out of alignment and he had a grumpy
disposition.
After his third treatment
the hard, fatty lumps had become soft and were reducing in size. Fiona noticed that he was much
freer in his movement and his mood an improved no end.
Max
had 4 treatments over a 2 month period.
After the fourth treatment Max had lost his ³wet nappy² action behind
and was moving beautifully, he was working well and slimming down. Fiona said that she had never known him
to be so happy. In early November
she took Max to his first dressage competition since August 2003 and he won his
overall class.
